The GIIFTS Method for an AI-First World
The Coach Meltzer GIIFTS method gives professionals a practical structure for turning AI-driven change into purposeful action and measurable progress.
A structure for change
AI creates more options than most people can evaluate. New tools, new business models and new fears arrive every week. My GIIFTS method provides a practical structure: Goal Setting, Insight, Implementation, Feedback, Transformation and Success. It keeps attention on human progress while technology serves as a growth tool.
Goal Setting
Start with a result that matters. A useful goal is clear enough to guide action and flexible enough to survive new information. You might aim to improve your value in a current role, validate a consulting offer or prepare for an entrepreneurial move. Define what progress would look like in the next 30 to 90 days, not only in a distant future.
Insight
Insight comes from honest observation. Examine your strengths, habits, assumptions and environment. Look at where your industry is changing and where customers or employers still struggle. AI can help you organize information and compare patterns, but your lived experience gives those patterns meaning. The best insight connects what is happening outside you with what is true about you.
Implementation
Implementation turns intention into a calendar. Choose the conversations, experiments and deliverables that will test your direction. Create a small project, improve a business process, interview potential customers or build a simple offer. Keep the steps concrete. Action creates clarity because it produces evidence that planning alone cannot provide.
Feedback
Feedback is not a final judgment. It is information for the next decision. Ask customers, colleagues and mentors specific questions about what worked, what confused them and what they would value more. Review the performance of your own experiments. AI can help summarize recurring themes, but you decide which signals matter and what to change.
Transformation
Transformation happens when new behavior becomes part of how you work. You stop treating AI as a separate project and begin using it thoughtfully inside research, planning, communication or delivery. You also become more comfortable acting without complete certainty. The change is not merely technical. It affects your confidence, identity and capacity to create value.
Success
Success should be defined, measured and then renewed. It may mean a stronger role, a profitable side business, a successful career move or simply more control over your week. Recognize the progress, capture what made it possible and decide what comes next. In an AI-first world, success is not a permanent finish line. It is the ability to keep learning and creating with purpose.
Put GIIFTS into practice
Write one goal, one insight and one implementation step today. Decide who can give you useful feedback and when you will review it. Notice the transformation that follows repeated action, then measure success against the life and work you actually want. A structured process turns uncertainty into movement.
An illustrative GIIFTS exercise
Imagine you want to make a recurring report less stressful. Set a goal you can recognise, identify the biggest source of friction and try one small change using non-confidential sample material. Review the accuracy and effort involved. Repeat what works and define what you want to sustain. This is an example of the method, not a client result or a promise of time savings.
